• Commanding Stage Presence

  • Bring your hard work into the spotlight. Maximus Extreme Tan delivers rich, deep mahogany competition color designed to showcase muscle definition, body contours and the physique you’ve worked to build. Formulated and manufactured in-house by AYU Sunless’s cosmetic chemists, this professional competition tanning solution combines DHA with immediate cosmetic bronzers for intense, buildable stage color. Customize the depth to suit the competitor’s skin tone, division and lighting.

Maximus Extreme Tan is a professional tanning solution created for the demanding visual requirements of bodybuilding and fitness competitions. From initial color to final refinement, Maximus Extreme Tan is the foundation of your Maximus competition tanning routine.

  • For professional spray tan artists and competition tanning specialists working with:

    • Bodybuilding and classic physique competitors
    • Physique and figure competitors
    • Bikini, wellness and fitness competitors

Adjust the application to the individual competitor and the presentation required by their division. Competition color should be assessed for stage conditions, where strong lighting can make everyday tanning depth appear too light.

    • Rich, deep mahogany color for a bold competition appearance.
    • Immediate cosmetic bronzers plus DHA for visible application color and tanning development over time.
    • Buildable stage depth tailored to skin tone, division and lighting.
    • Definition-focused color to help showcase muscle separation and body contours.
    • A coordinated competition routine with Maximus Liquid Bronzer Only and Maximus Posing Glaze.
    • In-house formulation and manufacturing backed by AYU Sunless’s cosmetic chemistry experience since 2003.
  • Intense Stage Color. Thoughtful Skin Conditioning.

Competition preparation and repeated color applications make skin comfort an important part of the tanning routine. Maximus Extreme Tan pairs rich, buildable competition color with moisturizing and skin-conditioning ingredients to help maintain softness and surface comfort.

    Formula Details

    • DHA + Immediate Cosmetic Bronzers: Deliver immediate stage depth alongside tanning color that develops over time.
    • Aloe and Glycerin: Help support hydration and skin comfort.
    • Hyaluronic Acid and Panthenol (Vitamin B5): Help maintain moisture and keep skin feeling soft.
    • Grape Seed Oil, Sunflower Oil and Conditioning Emollients: Support skin softness and suppleness.
    • Dimethicone: Provides smooth slip and helps maintain surface comfort.
    • Vitamin E: Contributes to the skin-conditioning blend.
    • Made Without Ethanol, SD Alcohol or Isopropyl Alcohol.
  • Skin Preparation

Begin with clean, dry skin that has been gently exfoliated in advance. Remove makeup, deodorant and other surface residues. Avoid aggressive exfoliation or application over irritated skin.

    Evening Before Competition

Apply two even coats of Maximus Extreme Tan as a starting point, allowing each coat to dry completely before applying the next.

Assess coverage and depth. Additional coats may be needed depending on the competitor’s skin tone, division and stage lighting. Once completely dry, wear loose, dark clothing to minimize rubbing and transfer.

    Competition Day

Assess the color and apply additional coats or touch-ups as needed, allowing each application to dry completely.

Rinsing is not required before adding more color. The cosmetic bronzer may remain on the skin while additional coats are layered. If a rinse is included in the competitor’s preparation plan, it will remove cosmetic bronzer and reduce visible depth; dry the skin completely before rebuilding color.

    Additional Stage Depth

If more immediate bronzer depth is needed after Maximus Extreme Tan, apply Maximus Liquid Bronzer Only evenly and build to the required stage color. Allow each coat to dry completely.

Liquid Bronzer Only contains no DHA and is intended to complement Maximus Extreme Tan, not to be used alone on untanned skin.

    Final Stage Finish

After all color applications and touch-ups are complete and dry, apply Maximus Posing Glaze sparingly and evenly for controlled sheen.

Excessive shine can obscure muscle definition. Assess the finish before adding more glaze.

Application reminder: Complete drying between coats is essential. Cosmetic bronzer can transfer onto clothing and bedding; minimize friction and contact with water while retaining stage color.

Optional Finishing Powder: Once the color is completely dry, lightly apply AYU Finishing Powder to areas prone to tackiness, moisture or friction for added comfort during overnight wear. Use sparingly and avoid visible powder buildup. Powder does not replace drying between coats.

  • How many coats should I apply?

Two coats can be a starting point, but there is no single coat count for every competitor. Build to the required depth, allowing each coat to dry completely before adding another.

Do I need to rinse before applying additional coats?

No. Additional coats may be layered over retained cosmetic bronzer once the previous application is completely dry.

Does the immediate bronzer show my final DHA-developed color?

No. The immediate bronzer provides cosmetic surface color. DHA-developed tanning color develops separately over time. Your stage appearance can include both contributions.

Does every competitor need Liquid Bronzer Only?

No. Use it when additional immediate bronzer depth is needed after Maximus Extreme Tan. Assess the competitor’s color before deciding whether to add it.

When should I apply Posing Glaze?

After all tanning applications and color touch-ups are complete and dry. Apply sparingly and evenly for controlled sheen.

Will the color transfer onto clothing or bedding?

Some transfer can occur because the cosmetic bronzer remains on the skin’s surface. Complete drying and loose, dark clothing help reduce contact and friction but do not eliminate transfer.

Will the entire tan wash off after the event?

Rinsing removes the temporary cosmetic bronzer. DHA-developed tanning color remains and gradually fades as the skin naturally sheds.

How much solution does a competition tan require?

The amount varies with body size, application technique and the number of coats needed. A layered competition tan should not be planned using an everyday spray-tan quantity as its total requirement.
