How the Bronzer May Appear on Different Skin Tones
• Rosy / Pink: May visually soften the appearance of surface redness
• Light Neutral: Appears as a soft, natural light brown

The bronzer is a temporary cosmetic application guide and rinses away. Final tan depth develops from the DHA reaction with the skin.
Cocoanilla® Advanced Espresso may be used as either a traditional 8-hour solution or a rapid rinse formula.
Rapid development should be guided by skin condition, hydration, tanning history, and desired depth.
• 1 hour: Light, natural glow
• 2 to 3 hours: Medium to dark depth
• 3 to 4 hours: Rich medium-deep brown
• 4 to 5 hours: Deep, dramatic brown
• 5 to 6 hours: Ultra-dark finish for experienced clients
Classic Development
• 8 hours: Full 14% DHA development
For rapid use, clients should follow the recommended rinse time carefully. Final color continues developing after the first rinse and may continue to mature for up to 24 hours after application.
Cocoanilla® Advanced Espresso is formulated to support the skin environment in which DHA develops. Hydration, surface condition, and barrier balance can influence both the intensity and evenness of a deeper DHA result.
The formula combines 14% DHA with erythrulose and AYU’s Micro-Emulsion Delivery System for even surface distribution, along with skin care ingredients selected to support hydration, comfort, and conditioning during development.

Because Espresso offers both full and shortened development times, professional skin assessment becomes especially important. Healthy, well-prepared skin provides the most predictable environment for even DHA development.

Application
• Shake gently before use
• Pour approximately 50 mL (1.5 to 2 fl oz) into the spray gun cup
• Apply using smooth, overlapping strokes for even coverage
• Two light coats are recommended. The first establishes coverage and the second confirms even application
• Medium viscosity is suitable for professional HVLP and airbrush systems
• Allow approximately 8 to 10 minutes before dressing
Development
For Classic Use
• Allow to develop for 8 hours
• A water-only first rinse is recommended
For Rapid Use
• Select the rinse time according to the client’s skin condition, hydration, tanning history, and desired depth
• Make sure the client understands and follows the recommended rinse time
• Earlier rinsing removes the cosmetic bronzer, but DHA development continues after the rinse
• Developed color may continue to mature for up to 24 hours after application
Solution Handling
• Unused, unmixed solution may be returned to the original bottle
• If Espresso is blended with another AYU solution, store the blend separately in a clean, clearly labeled container
• Do not return mixed solution to the original bottle
• Mix AYU solutions with AYU solutions only

What does dual function mean?
Cocoanilla® Advanced Espresso can be used as a traditional 8-hour solution or as a rapid rinse formula by shortening the development time. This gives the artist more flexibility to customize the service around the client’s desired depth, skin condition, and schedule.
How is Espresso different from Latte and Mocha?
Espresso contains 14% DHA and provides the deepest developed depth in the Cocoanilla Collection. Latte offers the most natural depth at 9.5% DHA, while Mocha provides a rich middle depth at 12%. Espresso is also the only Cocoanilla formula that can function as both a classic 8-hour and rapid rinse solution.
How is Espresso different from Double Shot Rapid?
Espresso is a dual-function formula. It is built around full 8-hour development but can also be used as a rapid by shortening the rinse time.
Double Shot Rapid was designed specifically as a rapid system. Its formula architecture allows development to begin expressing more efficiently on the skin surface during the rapid development window, giving artists a dedicated option for timing-controlled rapid services.
Can Espresso be used on clients who do not want an extremely dark tan?
Yes. When Espresso is used as a rapid, shortening the rinse time allows the artist to control the developed depth. Skin condition, hydration, tanning history, and desired result should all be considered before choosing the rinse time.
Does the Cocoanilla bronzer determine the final tan color?
No. The cocoa-brown bronzer provides visual guidance during application and gives the client immediate bronzed color while the tan begins developing. The bronzer rinses away. Final tan depth develops from the DHA reaction within the outermost layer of the skin.
Can I lighten the Cocoanilla bronzer or customize the DHA level?
Yes. Cocoanilla Espresso can be blended with AYU Plus Clear to reduce the cosmetic bronzer concentration while allowing the artist to customize the final DHA percentage.
For a 50/50 blend, average the DHA percentages of the two solutions.
• Espresso 14% + AYU Plus Clear 8% = 11% DHA
• Espresso 14% + AYU Plus Clear 10% = 12% DHA
• Espresso 14% + AYU Plus Clear 12% = 13% DHA
• Espresso 14% + AYU Plus Clear 14% = 14% DHA
This gives the artist control over both the visible bronzer depth during application and the DHA percentage of the finished blend.
Mix AYU solutions with AYU solutions only. Store custom blends separately in a clearly labeled container and do not return mixed solution to the original bottle.
