How the Color Works

The wine-cocoa guide bronzer gives your skin immediate color and helps show where the mist has been applied. This temporary color rinses away during your first shower.

DHA creates the longer-lasting self-tan through a reaction in the outermost layer of the skin. The guide bronzer does not determine or neutralize your final DHA color.

Simply put: the bronzer guides your application now, while your self-tan develops separately.

Prepare Your Skin

Exfoliate before tanning, paying extra attention to dry or textured areas.

Immediately before application, smooth a very light layer of moisturizer over the elbows, knees, ankles, hands and feet. Allow it to settle before applying the mist. Dry areas can hold more self-tanner and develop darker than the surrounding skin. A light layer of moisturizer helps create a smoother, more even result.

Apply and Blend

1. Shake well before use.
   
2. Work on one section of the body at a time.
   
3. Mist the product onto the skin or Smooth Glow tanning mitt.
   
4. Blend evenly using long, overlapping motions.
   
5. Apply less product to the elbows, knees, ankles, hands and feet.
6. Use the blending brush to soften edges and remove excess product around the wrists, knuckles, knees, ankles and feet.
   
7. Allow the mist to dry completely before dressing.

This mist contains professional-level DHA, which reacts with amino acids in the outermost layer of the skin to create temporary color. Hydration and overall skin condition influence how evenly the tan develops and fades. To support balanced development, the formula includes:

Is Medium only for fair skin?

Will Dark be too dark?

Dark provides a deeper starting point, but the result is still customizable. Begin with one smooth, even application and evaluate the fully developed color before adding another layer.

What does the guide bronzer do?

The temporary guide bronzer provides immediate visible color and helps show where the mist has been applied. It rinses away separately and does not determine your final DHA-developed color.

How should I apply the mist?

Apply the mist in sections and blend using a tanning mitt. Use less product on the hands, feet, elbows, knees and ankles. A blending brush is helpful for softening edges and perfecting detailed areas.

How long should I leave it on before rinsing?

Allow the tan to develop for approximately 6 to 8 hours. During development, avoid water, sweating and friction. At the first rinse, use lukewarm water and gently pat the skin dry.

Why does color wash away during the first rinse?

The color you see rinsing away is the temporary guide bronzer. Your DHA-developed tan remains and continues to settle after the first rinse.

How do I prevent darker elbows, knees, hands and feet?

Exfoliate before tanning and apply a very light layer of moisturizer to dry or textured areas. Use less self-tanner on these areas and blend carefully with a tanning mitt or brush.

Can the guide bronzer transfer onto clothing?

Some transfer can occur before the first rinse. Once the mist is fully dry, lightly apply Smooth Glow Finishing Powder before dressing to areas prone to moisture, tackiness or friction. Keep it handy at home and reapply as needed to keep skin feeling dry and comfortable while sporting your tan.

Can I use it to refresh an existing tan?

Yes. Apply a light, even layer when the existing tan is fading evenly. If the remaining color has become patchy, gently exfoliate before beginning a fresh application.
