Double Shot Rapid gives experienced artists a purpose-built rapid option, rather than using a classic formula on a shortened schedule.

The bronzer gives the artist clear visual guidance during application. It helps track coverage, identify missed areas, and confirm that the solution has been applied evenly. It also gives the client instant gratification with an immediate, fresh-from-the-beach bronzed appearance while the DHA-developed tan begins to form.

How the Bronzer May Appear on Different Skin Tones

• Rosy / Pink: May visually soften the appearance of surface redness
• Light Neutral: Appears as a soft, natural light brown
• Medium Neutral / Olive: Appears as a richer neutral brown
• Medium-Deep: Appears as a deeper neutral brown overlay
• Deep / Dark: Adds subtle visible definition and glow

The bronzer is a temporary cosmetic application guide and rinses away. Final tan depth develops from the DHA reaction with the skin.

Rapid development should be guided by skin condition, hydration, tanning history, desired depth, and professional assessment.

• 1 hour: Light, natural glow
• 2 to 3 hours: Medium to dark depth

Professional Limits

• Well-hydrated, resilient skin generally performs best within 5 hours
• Clients with more natural melanin seeking deeper darkness may extend development up to 6 hours when appropriate
• Do not exceed 6 hours for any skin type
• Clients must follow the rinse time assigned by their spray tan artist

The cosmetic bronzer rinses away at the first rinse. DHA development continues afterward, and final color may continue to mature for up to 24 hours after application.

Cocoanilla® Double Shot Rapid was formulated specifically for the shorter development window required of a professional rapid solution.

Rather than relying on a higher DHA percentage, Double Shot uses a different formula architecture. It builds on the Cocoanilla skin care foundation with additional hydration and conditioning components, including Sodium PCA, sodium hyaluronate, pomegranate sterols, and radish seed extract, along with purposeful concentration adjustments elsewhere in the formula.

Together, these changes support quicker release, efficient surface distribution, and more responsive DHA development during the rapid contact window.

Because rapid development takes place over a shorter period, the condition of the stratum corneum becomes especially important. Well-hydrated, resilient skin generally provides a more predictable environment for even development and deeper rapid results.

The formula includes:

Before Spraying

• Assess the client’s skin condition, hydration, tanning history, and desired depth
• Skin should be gently exfoliated, clean, and free of heavy lotions, deodorant, makeup, or other surface residue
• AYU Smooth Glow Pre-Tan Prep Spray may be used as part of professional preparation

Application

• Shake gently before use
• Pour approximately 50 mL (1.5 to 2 fl oz) into the spray gun cup
• Apply using smooth, controlled overlapping strokes
• Two light coats are recommended. The first establishes coverage and the second confirms even application
• Medium viscosity is suitable for professional HVLP and airbrush systems
• Allow approximately 8 to 10 minutes to dry before dressing

Development

• Assign rinse timing according to skin condition, hydration, tanning history, and desired depth
• Clearly communicate the exact rinse time to the client
• Clients should rinse at the assigned time and should not extend development in an attempt to become darker
• First rinse with water is recommended
• Final DHA-developed color continues to mature after rinsing

Selected functional ingredients and concentration adjustments support quicker release and more efficient DHA expression during the rapid development window. Does Double Shot Rapid contain more DHA than Espresso?
Its rapid performance is not based on simply increasing DHA. The difference comes from the complete formula architecture and how the ingredients are balanced to perform during a shorter development window.

Not necessarily. It performs best on well-hydrated, resilient skin and is intended for artists who are comfortable assessing skin condition and controlling rapid timing. Clients with dry, mature, or compromised-feeling skin may be better suited to another AYU rapid formula selected according to their individual skin condition.

Does the bronzer determine the final tan color?
No. The espresso cocoa-brown bronzer provides visual guidance and immediate cosmetic color during application. It rinses away. Final tan depth develops from the DHA reaction within the outermost layer of the skin.

Is Double Shot Rapid sweat-resistant?
Yes. After the first rinse and full development period, the developed tan is sweat-resistant.
